Spinzilla 2015

Spinzilla 2015

Last week, I participated in a monster spinning week: Spinzilla! It was my first time participating and what fun it was! With #teamsweetgeorgia, I spun a lot more yarn than I thought I could/would, with over 2800 yards (that’s more than 1.25 miles)! YeeHaw! Now, we just sit back and wait for the final results to be announced. Or find a use for all of my new yarn. Grin! Are you a spinner?

Yarn Play: Superfine 400

Yarn Play: Superfine 400

I haven’t had much time in the last two months to sit and just meander and play with new yarns, but this week, I insisted to myself that it was time. In fact, it was past time. I was given the chance to dig my fingers into a brand new yarn, one that is mesmerizing in its delicate comfort: Superfine 400 from Yarn and Soul (distributed by Classic Elite Yarns). There are times when we just need … to be

Fall with SweetGeorgia, Vol 1 + Giveaway!

Fall with SweetGeorgia, Vol 1 + Giveaway!

My role with SweetGeorgia Yarns is Design Director, Knitwear. That means I get to have the amazingly fun job of curating the collections, from theme development to writing content to launch extravaganza. It is fabulous on every level, especially now that the hard work of the entire team has come to light! On September 8, we launched the Fall/Winter collection and I could not be more tickled. I truly hope you are as delighted to see, knit, and experience it as

In a Month’s Time

In a Month’s Time

It has been a wild couple of months with birthdays, back-to-school activities, massive work projects, interviews, fun family trips, and more! So much to catch up on, but let’s see if I can sum it all up for you: August started with a dragon-themed birthday party for the new 8-year old. My mom and I are cake masters at this point, don’t you think? And birthday celebrations were quickly followed by back-to-school celebrations (yes, me dancing like a wild woman

A Blanket to Knit

This past week or so, I’ve been hard at work on Fall Collections, writing, planning (oh, LOTS and LOTS of planning), and playing house-hold catch-up from my trip to Texas earlier this month. My brain has been really stretched in different directions, but surprisingly, I’ve been super productive (which is saying something. Haha!). It has been wonderful to work in a relatively consistent time frame, which for anyone who knows me, is a highly unusual thing. I’ve spent my “off”

A Week Long Trip to Texas

A Week Long Trip to Texas

I just got home from a week long trip to TX (not including the 4 days of driving) and I think it is safe to say that I am wiped. This trip was particularly special, though, because I was able to see my sisters (it’s been a couple of years), meet my 1 year old nephew, Ethan, and get to know my 3 year old niece, Eva (who I haven’t seen since she was 3 months old). My gracious parents

Blankies Just for Baby

Blankies Just for Baby

Do you like knitting baby blankets? Last year, I was asked to put together a little booklet of them and now it has been released! Blankies Just for Baby is a cute little collection of 6 easy projects, all made with worsted weight yarn. I even make suggestions on alternate yarns you could use, showing additional swatches in an alternate color scheme. It’s quite a handy book with fun patterns, easy charts, and fun learning opportunities. This was a super fun

Stitch Play: Telluride

Stitch Play: Telluride

When I knit up a sample of Telluride from Classic Elite Yarns, I wanted a stitch pattern that was as simple and beautiful as the yarn itself. Oh, yes, I think this one hit the mark. Give it a try and let me know what you think! Remember, 2/2 LC is a left-leaning cable, so work it like this: slip two stitches to a cable needle and hold to the front, knit two, then knit the two from the cable

Rustic, Simple, Wholesome

Rustic, Simple, Wholesome

Apparently, I’m on an alpaca kick these days, but it’s easy to see why … a) darn cute animal, b) so soft, and c) a lightweight fiber that lends itself well to these muggy hot days of summer! And boy is it hot here in Texas (I’m here visiting my wild and crazy family)! Want to get a sneak peek at something new and purdy? It isn’t even out yet! Telluride by Classic Elite Yarns. I picked up this sample

The Official Announcement

The Official Announcement

Not too long ago, I mentioned that I had accepted a job offer and I’m sorry to have kept it secret for so long! We wanted to wait until the right moment when all the pieces fell in place. But, no more! The news is out in the wide open world!!! Tiny drumroll. I’m positively thrilled to join the SweetGeorgia Yarns team as their new Design Director for Knittwear. Squeal! It means I stay in the yarn industry, stay in the

It started with a failed trip to Hanging Lake

This year … has had quite an impact on my mindset, causing me to re-evaluate the future and plan new things, but there’s been this undercurrent of change that stretches beyond just the work thing and into every aspect of my life. It’s really been about overcoming my own limitations, realizing my purpose, and doing what is important. When my kids were wee little, we moved to Colorado from North Carolina. My youngest, Sophie, was just over one and Ayla

Stitch Play: Softly Summer

Stitch Play: Softly Summer

You might have liked the simple little diamond lace pattern in my Yarn Play of Berroco Maya yesterday, so, for your knitting pleasure, here is the stitch pattern!
