Last week, I participated in a monster spinning week: Spinzilla! It was my first time participating and what fun it was! With #teamsweetgeorgia, I spun a lot more yarn than I thought I could/would, with over 2800 yards (that’s more than 1.25 miles)! YeeHaw! Now, we just sit back and wait for the final results to be announced. Or find a use for all of my new yarn. Grin! Are you a spinner?
It has been a wild couple of months with birthdays, back-to-school activities, massive work projects, interviews, fun family trips, and more! So much to catch up on, but let’s see if I can sum it all up for you: August started with a dragon-themed birthday party for the new 8-year old. My mom and I are cake masters at this point, don’t you think? And birthday celebrations were quickly followed by back-to-school celebrations (yes, me dancing like a wild woman
This past week or so, I’ve been hard at work on Fall Collections, writing, planning (oh, LOTS and LOTS of planning), and playing house-hold catch-up from my trip to Texas earlier this month. My brain has been really stretched in different directions, but surprisingly, I’ve been super productive (which is saying something. Haha!). It has been wonderful to work in a relatively consistent time frame, which for anyone who knows me, is a highly unusual thing. I’ve spent my “off”
I just got home from a week long trip to TX (not including the 4 days of driving) and I think it is safe to say that I am wiped. This trip was particularly special, though, because I was able to see my sisters (it’s been a couple of years), meet my 1 year old nephew, Ethan, and get to know my 3 year old niece, Eva (who I haven’t seen since she was 3 months old). My gracious parents
Not too long ago, I mentioned that I had accepted a job offer and I’m sorry to have kept it secret for so long! We wanted to wait until the right moment when all the pieces fell in place. But, no more! The news is out in the wide open world!!! Tiny drumroll. I’m positively thrilled to join the SweetGeorgia Yarns team as their new Design Director for Knittwear. Squeal! It means I stay in the yarn industry, stay in the
This year … has had quite an impact on my mindset, causing me to re-evaluate the future and plan new things, but there’s been this undercurrent of change that stretches beyond just the work thing and into every aspect of my life. It’s really been about overcoming my own limitations, realizing my purpose, and doing what is important. When my kids were wee little, we moved to Colorado from North Carolina. My youngest, Sophie, was just over one and Ayla
I’m still here but, slammed amidst the insanity that is: editing 200+ photos for my book, editing and finalizing said book, writing 20+ patterns for a yarn company, and all while attempting to attend to my new day job. It”s … well … it’s probably the hardest, busiest month I’ve experienced since that time when I became a new mom! Your support and encouragement mean the world to me. Smooches!
School is out, my husband is home following his surgery, I’m glued to the desk for this obscene amount of work, and I am still alive. Yep, still alive. Which is more than I can say for my poor garden after a wicked bout of hail last week. The kids last day of school consisted of Field Day, where they played non-stop. My oldest was so proud of herself for achieving a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbon (“my goal”
Hey, my fiber-loving peeps! The schedule this coming up crazy week is going to be a bit … hairy. To say the least. I’ll won’t be putting up a Yarn or Stitch Play post this week, but I thought I’d take a moment to let you know the insanely wild stuff that has been and will soon be. Last week … ahem… I accepted a job offer! Squeal! I can’t say TOO much about it publicly yet, but suffice to

In the Creative Knitting Online Newsletter, you’ll find tutorials, trends, and fiber-lovin’ commentary! I have this beautiful friend. Fiery red hair. Eyes that cut straight through your thoughts with a razor sharpness that catches the breath. She’s a mama of three stunningly awesome kids, a knitter, a teacher, an avid reader, a wife (to an equally amazing husband), a source of good laughs, and definitely an inspiration of determination, strength, and hope. Her story is … both heartbreaking and love-filled at the same time and not one I’m quite comfortable sharing quite yet
